With a broad range of education and experience, I’m ready to work with you to achieve your goals.

Education

I earned my Bachelor’s degree from NYU where I studied abroad in Florence, Italy and was a record-holding member of the track team.  My Masters and Doctorate are from Fordham University in the field of Social Work.  I completed three years of postgraduate training in psychodynamic psychotherapy at Washington Square Institute in New York and have taken Dr. Gregg Jacob’s Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia program.

Work

I began my work in mental health as a Family Specialist on an Assertive Community Treatment team in Brooklyn.  From there I further developed my interest in mental health treatment and assessment as a psychiatric social worker at an inpatient psychiatric unit at Gracie Square Hospital and in the emergency room at Bellevue Hospital Center.  While working full time, I also saw clients for intakes at Washington Square Institute.  In 2008, I started seeing clients for psychotherapy treatment as part of my post-graduate training.  I eventually started my own private practice in Manhattan.

I closed my practice when I moved to Washington D.C. for my family.  After finishing up my dissertation, I took a position as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Hood College.  I currently teach at Fordham University and West Virginia University in their online MSW programs.  While I love teaching, I also love practicing.  I consider my practice crucial for my work as a professor and my connection to academia as beneficial to my practice.

Academia

I teach a variety of clinically oriented graduate level courses, such as Trauma, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Assessment and Diagnosis, and Advanced Practice.  Every semester I am energized and inspired by the great emerging social workers I have the privilege to work with.

In 2020, I had the opportunity to create and teach the first course on Environmental Justice and Social Work at Hood College to BSW students.

In addition to teaching, I also present and publish my research, mainly on topics related to environmental justice, clinical practice and the physical environment, and phenomenology.
